The Prayer Jesus Gave Us

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He didn’t give them a theory. He gave them words. The Lord’s Prayer — the Our Father — is the most prayed prayer in history. Yet it is not just something to recite. It is a framework for all prayer.

Our Father

Jesus begins with relationship. Not “my Father” but “our Father.” Prayer is never solitary. When you pray the Our Father, you are joining a chorus of believers across centuries.

Hallowed Be Thy Name

Prayer begins in worship. Before requests, before confession, we start with adoration. To “hallow” God’s name is to set Him apart as holy.

Thy Will Be Done

This is the hardest line — surrender. Prayer is not twisting God’s arm to do our will. It is laying down our will to embrace His. Even Jesus prayed in Gethsemane, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

Here, we ask for what we need, not for tomorrow, but for today. It is an echo of the manna in the desert. God gives daily grace, enough for this day.

Forgive Us… As We Forgive

Forgiveness is at the heart of prayer. To receive mercy, we must give mercy. This line transforms us into channels of reconciliation.

Deliver Us From Evil

Prayer ends with a cry for protection. The battle is real, but God’s deliverance is greater.

Living the Prayer

The Our Father is more than words — it is a way of life. Pray it slowly, line by line, letting it shape your day.
