Praying for Others (Intercession)
Intercession is one of the highest callings of prayer. To pray for someone else is to love them in the deepest way. It is to stand between them and God, carrying their needs into His presence.
Christ the Intercessor
Scripture says Jesus “always lives to make intercession” (Hebrews 7:25). At the Father’s right hand, Christ Himself prays for us. When we intercede, we participate in His priestly work.
The Power of Standing in the Gap
Moses interceded for Israel when they turned away from God. Abraham interceded for Sodom. The early Church constantly interceded for one another. Prayer on behalf of others can change lives, heal the sick, and open doors.
Intercession as Love in Action
To say, “I’ll pray for you” must not be an empty phrase. It is a commitment to carry someone else’s burden. Saint Paul commands, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
How to Begin
Start by choosing one person each day to hold in prayer. Speak their name to God. Picture them in His presence. Ask for His mercy, strength, or healing over their life.
? Today, take that step: share someone else’s name or need on FRVNT. Intercede, and let the community join you in love.
