Prayer in the Midst of Violence

Lord Jesus Christ,

You are the Word made flesh,
the light shining in the darkness,
the One who calms the storm.

Look with mercy on our nation torn by anger,
our people divided,
and hearts wounded by violence.

Console the grieving.
Strengthen the fearful.
Protect the innocent.
Convert the violent.

Grant us courage to be peacemakers,
humility to seek forgiveness,
and love that casts out fear.

Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Queen of Peace,
we entrust our communities, our leaders,
and all who speak in public life to Your Sacred Heart.

Amen.
